Our FarmSight team have been to visit Philip Broom from Courtbrook Farm to find out a little more….

Dan from our FarmSight team headed out this week to meet Philip on farm for an initial consultation to find out more about his farm, working practices and discover exactly what Philip and his team hope to achieve with the FarmSight Services they have won.

Over a much needed cup of tea, we soon discovered some technology is already being used on farm including an ITC and StarFire 3000 receiver, ATU steering wheel as well as two 2600 display screens.

Their fields are mapped allowing the team to use AutoTrac to easily master straight and curved tracks making it easier to work comfortably in low-visibility conditions.

This greatly helps with the drilling, spreading, spraying and combine work they do on this arable farm of 180 acres with 50 acres of barley, 100 acres of wheat, 30 acres of maize plus 250 acres of grassland.

They have recently bought a John Deere Trailed Sprayer with ISOBUS and auto shut off for greater accuracy. They also use section control to minimise overlaps and are keen to use variable rate applications in the future, which is something our Farmsight team will investigate with them.

Philip explained what he wants to achieve from the FarmSight support “We would like to get more visibility of the data we are recording so we can use it to get greater insight into our productivity which will help us make decisions easier.”

The team would also like help with traceability, making this more efficient by moving it online to keep greater checks for compliance.

A plan will be made to support Philip and his team for the next 12 months as part of his prize. The first step will be for Dan to return and support Phillip with the set up of his MyJohnDeere account and upload his existing data which has already been recorded.  Once the data is uploaded into Phillip’s MyJohnDeere, the data can be evaluated and analysed to improve future recordings.

We’ll keep you updated with the teams progress over the coming months, look out for more updates!
