In Early February (05/02/20) we hosted a popular Gen4 Screen Training Days at our Exebridge and Chudleigh Depots.

Over 35 attendees joined us to learn about 5 key areas of screen training:

  • Tractor Settings – Documentation/section control ISOBUS
  • Tractor Settings – Command Pro Machine Settings
  • Tractor Settings – Basic Guidance and Display Setup
  • My JohnDeere.com Intro
  • My Operations Centre overview

My JohnDeere.com introduction

sarah

Sarah, our FarmSight Co-ordinator, introduced MyJohnDeere.com to the attendees showing a brief overview of the website. She displayed various elements such as the JD Parts Catalogue making it more convenient for users to look up parts and the Display and CommandARM simulator which allows users to simulate machine operation. The purpose of this simulator is to support users who are learning to use John Deere displays and associated equipment software via their laptop or desktop computer.

Furthermore, Sarah also introduced JDLink dashboard where users can manage machine performance, monitor maintenance and increase uptime not only on their computer, but on their phone also. One of the main benefits of JDLink Dashboard is being able to track your machines, giving you a larger sense of security. Sarah went on to mention that some users of JDLink saw their insurance prices decrease due to this.

Tractor Settings – Documentation/Section Control

Dan, our FarmSight Consultant, explained in-depth about section control and documentation on the Gen4 Screens. He stated that John Deere Section Control can automatically turn individual implement sections on and off at predefined locations in the field. The system is compatible with all John Deere implements supporting section control functionality as well as with AEF ISOBUS Task Controller Section Control (TC-SC) compliant implements from other brands. The exact fields and boundaries can be documented and shared with other users. This data gets stored in MyJohnDeere allowing it to be more concise.

Dan went on to say, by reducing product overlap and gaps in the field, John Deere Section Control enables users to apply exact amounts of fertiliser, seed and crop protection – where they are needed. As a result, users cut input costs and increase efficiency while minimising crop damage and environmental impact.

Tractor Settings – Basic Guidance and Display Setup

Andrew, our Service Support Salesman, mentioned the importance of having to recalibrate the screen and dome twice a month to give you the most accurate results. Furthermore, he suggested to never leave it on all day, so it gives it chance to reboot.

Pin Protect was another important feature Andrew mentioned as many receivers have been stolen due to their cost. If a receiver were to be pin protected and have a sticker on saying this, then this would likely deter thieves from stealing it.

Tractor Settings – CommandPro/iTec

Clayton, our Senior Service Support Salesman, Introduced our attendees to the CommandPRO joystick. He showed of its 11 reconfigurable buttons which allows every workday even more comfortable and productive.

Clayton showed off the CommandPro’s seamless control. The joystick goes from top to zero speeds with a simple push or pull, and unique creeping control from 0 to 2 km/h. Simultaneous pedal and joystick driving, plus an ActiveZero function that keeps the output speed actively at 0 km/h until the acceleration command.

Furthermore, Clayton discussed iTec by saying it adds a powerful productivity tool to the 6RC Series Tractors. iTEC Basic greatly reduces operator fatigue in row-cropping and tillage applications through the automatic sequencing of tractor functions normally associated with headland turns.

iTEC Basic can be programmed to control all or some of the following tractor functions:

  • Mechanical front-wheel drive (MFWD) on/off
  • Differential lock on/off
  • Rear power take-off (PTO) on/off
  • Hitch raise/lower/quick pull-in

My Operations Centre Overview

Dan showed our attendees the benefits of John Deere’s Operations Centre. This helps users to concentrate on the work in their fields. With proactive maintenance and remote service & support capabilities the Operations Centre helps users to take machine uptime to the next level, retain their machine value and reduce maintenance costs.

Dan went on to discuss the the remote diagnostics feature in where users can work in the field, whilst Masons Kings Technicians can remotely check their machine condition. If an alert comes up the service technician is notified as quickly as the user. From here, the Technician can remotely analyse the route cause and potentially even solve the issue remotely.

We wrapped up our successful screen training sessions with an in-depth Q&A session so our attendees left certain they would be taking full advantage of the technology on offer!

Thank you to all who attended the event.

If you couldn’t make it then please contact our FarmSight department who’ll be happy to discuss any training needs.
