Our FarmSight team were pleased to host our first Techi Brekkie in partnership with Devon Hill Farm Project this week (Wednesday 17th October 2018).

Hosted at the Tor Royal B&B in Princetown, customers arrived to a treat of deliciously locally sourced cooked breakfast thanks to Justine Colton to kick off the meeting.

Once everyone was well fed, David Attwell from Dartmoor Hill Farm Project took the floor to introduce our first Techi Brekkie, how the sessions will be run and who all the hosts were around the table.

Our AMS specialist, Dominic lead the session to discuss smart technology for fertiliser application. Since the millennium AMS systems have developed dramatically, providing a whole host of new insights we never thought were possible back in the 90’s!

After a snapshot of the history we began looking at today and what the future holds for farming and in particular fertiliser application. Like all businesses, farming is no different when we talk about the need to be profitable to be able to stay afloat. This was a hot topic for discussion so Dominic used our Payback calculator to determine some real-life situations.

System changes are not possible unless it is profitable or has long-term gains in the future. Putting some figures from customers into the Payback calculator which looks at farm operation size, system operations and the costs. We calculated for one customer a yearly saving of up to £2609 using the AMS systems and equipment!

It was then time to go outside and experience the AMS systems and equipment which has been discussed. We had our John Deere 5100R tractor which Clayton, another AMS specialist walked the customers round. He talked through tractor capabilities as well as the AMS kit including the screen, receiver and Universal Steering Wheel.

The Breckie was wrapped up just before lunch with customers leaving with more understanding and insight about technology within farming equipment and how it has developed and will continue to do so.

We’d like to say a big thank you to Tor Royal B&B for hosting the event for us.

Also a big thank you to Dartmoor Hill Farming Project for organising this event.
