Groundsman Awareness Event supports over 20 football clubs in Devon

Groundsman event 2h

Yesterday evening (6th June 2018) we were delighted to welcome groundsmen, chairmen & club secretaries from over 20 clubs across Devon.

Our Total Pitch Care Groundsman Awareness Day in partnership with the Devon FA, supported clubs who have suffered this season due to our terrible weather conditions.

Compaction, waterlogging and frost proved to be key reasons why an excessively large number of matches have unfortunately had to be cancelled!

To reduce the impact and get ahead planning for next season, clubs were invited to learn how with a few small changes they could make dramatic pitch quality improvements.

The beautiful sunny evening kicked off with everyone on the pitch getting hands on with Masons Kings quality Total Pitch Care machinery packages which will dramatically improve and maintain better pitch quality.

Our team were on hand to talk through the benefits and features and even get a few participants taking them for a test drive up and down the pitch.

We were joined by Rikki Bown from Trimax, manufacturer of the Striker 150 rotary mower included in our Gold package and expert on commercial turf mowing systems.

We then moved inside to grab a bite to eat at the Corner Flag Bar before our guest speakers joined us…

Paul Morrison, Chief Executive along with  Chris French, County Development Manager at Devon FA began the presentations with a warm welcome and importantly, discussions about grant funding options which are available through the Devon FA.

Funding which can be used to support the purchase of any of the machinery in our Total Pitch Care Packages as well as pitch improvement programmes introduced by our 2 guest speakers

Simon Johnson, IOG Pitch Advisor was next to take the stage. He recommended how to deliver the best pitch you can for your budget.

He had top tips for general pitch maintenance as well as detailed information about the Pitch Improvement Programme – an opportunity to apply for funding in conjunction with the FA.

Dr Noel MacKenzie was next to share his knowledge and experiences on how to reduce compaction and keep pitches playable throughout the season.

He shared real life experiences of pitch improvement management and how clubs had spent time and money to effectively make sure their pitches are playable for more weeks of the season.

Our very own Lee Kirk, Commercial Turf Sales Consultant at Masons Kings rounded the evening off by introducing our Total Pitch Care Packages available with our exclusive Devon Fa discounts plus grant funding.

Everyone had been out to experience the machinery on the pitch first hand so put the machinery into context. Examples of clubs across the South West who have successfully applied for funding were discussed and how the machinery has not only improved their pitches but made life a lot easier for the groundsman teams.
